Dr Matthew Gillet

An experienced international lawyer who has investigated and prosecuted war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide for over 15 years. UN special mandate holder in Human Rights. He worked at the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, as well as other institutions. He was a member of the New Zealand delegation negotiating the crime of aggression at the International Criminal Court review conference in 2010. He now works as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Essex. He also co-leads the University's Digital Verification Unit, which gathers open source evidence of human rights violations.
